In a brand new partnership, Cosac Naify and MoMA have co-edited the catalog for the exhibition Tangled alphabets: León Ferrari and Mira Schendel that will be showing at the New York gallery from April 5th to June 15th 2009. The exhibition brings together around two hundred pieces - including ceramics, paintings, sculptures, installations and drawings -, and is the first to compare the output of the two artists. The catalog includes work by Mira Schendel (1919-1988) from the late 1950s to the end of the 1980s, and by León Ferrari (1920) up to 2007. Organized by Luis Pérez-Oramas - MoMA's curator of Latin-American art, the volume alternates pieces by both artists, encouraging one to find the similarities between their production. A parallel chronology for both artists and a selected bibliography complete the volume, which will be available in a limited English edition in Brazil through Cosac Naify.
